About Doctor Gould

Dr.  Richard  E. Gould  is  an  attending  physician  in  the Cedars-Sinai Outpatient Cancer Center at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute. He specializes in clinical Hematology-Oncology, the treatment of blood diseases and cancer. While committed to treating a wide variety of malignancies including gastrointestinal, lung, urologic, gynecologic, head/neck and other solid and liquid tumors, his special interests involve treating breast cancer and HIV-related hematologic and malignant disorders.
Focus on the patient as an individual is at the core of Dr. Gould’s practice philosophy. With the evolution of cancer care occurring at an ever-increasing pace, treatment must be tailored to every person’s unique needs. Through close partnership with his patients, treatment decisions are planned together. Dr. Gould realizes that support for both the individual and their family is crucial, and he has close ties with support services in the community.
Dr. Gould frequently lectures in the community with a focus on hormonal therapies for breast cancer and breast cancer prevention. He has also published articles on these topics in both the scientific and popular presses.
Dr. Gould is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. In addition, he is a diplomate of the American Boards of Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.
Dr. Gould enjoys teaching and has an academic appointment as a clinical instructor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). 

Dr. Gould graduated Cum Laude from Pomona College in Claremont, California and went on to receive his M.D. from U.S.C School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after which he was asked to stay on as faculty in the General Internal Medicine Department. Dr. Gould then received his sub-specialty fellowship training in Hematology-Oncology at the UCLA-San Fernando Valley and Cedars-Sinai combined program.
