Proper diet and exercise are important for healthy living. When diagnosed with cancer these fundamentals do not change. The nutrition you take in gives your body the necessary energy and tools to fight the cancer. The appropriate diet and level of exercise is
different for everybody, and our nutritionists will work one-on-one with you to find the optimal balance.
While undergoing cancer treatment, your energy levels and immune system may be altered. The physical activity that was simple before, now may require extra effort. Exercise under these circumstances does not mean running on the treadmill or biking for 10 miles. Instead, doing the laundry or walking around the block may be enough to get the blood flowing. On some days, just getting out of bed and into a chair is enough. Every individual has different exercise tolerance and no one exercise regimen is right for everyone. Before starting an exercise regimen, it is important to first discuss it with your doctor to ensure that you do it safely.
Herbal medications and natural supplements are readily available today. It is
important to realize that most of these substances have not been studied in conjunction with traditional cancer therapies. We do not know what interactions, if any, are present. If you are considering taking herbal/natural remedies, it is important to discuss it with your healthcare team.
